Loredana & Renato's Appartement
Interior design
We are Loredana and Renato. Our home is the place we love the most.
We traveled the world, and together we've lived many years in northern and central Africa. We've collected art works from all over the place, and it's great to display the best pieces of our memories in our living room.
Our place is open to visitors and friends, and there's always dinner ready for all.
This is home
The mission of an interior designer, is to understand the wishes of the owners, and to make them come true. Loredana has a taste for non-conventional modern-classic environments where she could enjoy the company of her guests.
Welcome to our home
Each situation has its own challenges to consider. Here the livingroom is about 7 by 6 meters wide. Eventhough it has three windows, each of them face north and they are not enough to ensure abundant natural light. So the main question was "What can you do in a room when natural light is weak?" How can you solve this issue?
It is also a journey
Sometimes the answer can be counter-intuitive. In these situations bright colours may appear dull and boring. So why not using this feature to create a cosy evening-like athmosphere, instead? This way limits can become strengths, if they are dealt with, using creativity and immagination.
It's where we feel comfortable
The main choises for this design were about the type of floor, walls and ceiling. The floor is a pre-finished South American wood, called Cabreuva, produced by Comoparquet Snc. The ceiling is painted with Farrow&Ball full-gloss paint Mahogany 36. The walls are painted with Giorgio Graesan paint, Minimal collection "the colours of stone". The ceiling is enclosed by an iron black frame that was designed on demand. This frame supports a LED lighting strip, artworks are hang over it and the frame it contains a track for curtains. Linear light all around the celing edge, contributes to an optical effect that makes it "float" over.
Please, take a seat
The table is a beautiful design by Riva 1920, in walnut wood. It's 3x1 m wide. The two lamps are C'hi by Penta light. The bronze craftwork disk comes from Libya, as well as the vase. The picture is a beautiful painting of a vase of flowers, which was inherited from an aunt in Tuscany. Antiques walnut piece of furniture completes the layout.
Everything is how we love it
The door is decorated with wallpaper from Cristina Masi's collection "Poesia Italiana". The same wallpaper has been used at the entrance of the living room.
Dialogue and rest need comfort
The owners aren't interested in watching TV, and therefore the sofas are diplayed with the purpose of conversation and relax. The sofas are designed by Meroni&Colzani, in brown leather. The floor lamp is "Pannona" by Penta lighting. Vases and the footrest come from Northern Africa. On the wall "Venere" by Daylight Bovolo.
The copper vases and the wooden masks come from Nigeria and Congo. The painting by Daylight Bovolo is an interpretation of the novel by Manzoni "I Promessi Sposi". A young lady is holding her child's dead body caused by the plague that devastated Milan in the 1600's.
